About Hair Loss Mom

Hi, and welcome to Hair Loss Mom! My name is Sarah and I will be your guide on this adventure to loving your hair again.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my husband Jordan, our two kids aged 14 and 12, two dogs, two cats, and two guinea pigs. I run a virtual assistant business called Virtual Admin Pro, and this takes up a lot of my time! When I’m not working, I love cooking, spoiling my pets, playing board games, and getting lost in a good book.

I am now 43 years old and have experienced hair loss for a good part of my life. I started noticing changes in my hair as early as high school when the texture became much finer. In my 20s, it started thinning. While I was pregnant with both my babies my hair was amazing (for me!), but once I had them it all fell out and I was back where I started. Through my 30s and early 40s my hair has progressively thinned and fallen out, and a case of COVID-19 caused a LOT of hair loss too.

Over the course of this 20-something year journey, I have tried many things to try and regrow my hair and bring back my sense of self-confidence. Some of these things include:

  • Vitamins (I suffer from low Vitamin B12)
  • Biotin
  • Hair oils
  • Expensive shampoos

None of these products helped me the way I wanted and I did not see any new hair growth as a result of using them. Some of them made my hair texture better and improved my scalp, but I still didn’t love the way I looked. These products didn’t solve any real problems for me.

A few months ago, I came across hair toppers in my Instagram feed and worked up the nerve to try one. I LOVE it. I wish I had gotten it sooner. I think one of the reasons I hesitated to buy myself a head of hair before is that I was afraid of what people would say. But my friends and family have been nothing but supportive!

I didn’t realize until I got my hair topper how much I really didn’t like my bio hair and how these feelings affected my confidence in everyday situations. Before my hair topper, I never took selfies and avoided pictures at all costs. Since my hair topper, I have taken so many selfies and shared them with the world, and I can hardly believe it! And if you had told me a few months ago that I would become passionate enough about my hair to start a website and social media presence to share my story, I would not have believed that either.

I am so excited about what this new confidence in myself will make possible in my life and I can’t wait to dive even deeper into the world of hair toppers and wigs. I hope you will join me so we can learn more together! I am here as living proof that there IS a hair loss solution out there that works and can transform your life for the better.
